Out in the World explores themes of identity, acceptance, and the transformative power of safe spaces for young people to discover who they are, told through the story of Amy, a transgender Dungeon Master.

Set in Colac, once branded Victoria’s most homophobic town, the film seeks to illuminate the experiences of young people searching for a place to belong.

We follow two interwoven narratives: Amy’s personal journey toward self-acceptance, and the D&D campaign she leads, where the characters her players create become reflections of their own hopes, struggles, and identities.

The film transcends its regional setting to examine how young people everywhere navigate the tension between who they are and who they’re expected to be. In a world that often demands conformity, Out in the World celebrates the radical act of becoming yourself.
